Views from the Front Row
First and foremost I want to thank MCW for giving the fans the opportunity to voice our thoughts and opinions!
We are coming to the end of another year and my thoughts begin to drift to everything that happened in MCW. It has been a busy year! MCW has gone through some evolution and revolution in 2008 and I hope to touch on some of the major happenings that made fans’ heads turn and make us wonder, “What’s next?”
April 5th, 2008 MCW Moves to the Green Room
Like many other MCW fans, I wondered what this new venue would mean and questions swirled around my head. Would this new place have heat? Would they have food? And most importantly, would the wrestlers hit their heads on the ceiling when jumping from the top rope? Needless to say, by the first intermission everyone knew that this was the new home of MCW…so let the games begin!
MCW Announces that Shamrock Cup 2008 will be a Two-Day Event
We the fans had no idea what we were in for during these two days, but in the weeks leading to the event, MCW gave us little bits to chew on: First, Q&A sessions were announced. Part 1 with former ECW wrestlers and part two with former WWF Champion, the Iron Sheik. A ladder match for the tag titles was announced next. We then learned that talent from Ring of Honor was coming to compete on the shows. Fans from all around the country came to witness what would be known as one of the best Shamrock Cups ever. Never before had the fans felt so close to the action.
Holiday Hell December 27th, 2008
I begin to think, “Are we already here?” but here we are. The end of the year, the turning of the leaf, saying goodbye to the old and hello to the new. And with that let’s look at the end of the year show and what’s been announced so far:
Return of the Ladders. Ghetto Mafia will face Ryan McBride and Teddy Stigma for the tag titles. We all know what happened at Shamrock Cup — the Best Around interfered and Mafia held onto the belts. Before that ever happened, MCW fans were treated to some of the best high-flying action that has ever graced an MCW ring. The roof is still being attached from that exciting night in July. This time, things are different. The Best Around is nowhere-to-be-found. So will history change? Will the Mafia lose their standing as one of MCW most dominant tag teams?
Christian York vs Sugarmask. It truly has been a year of York as he defended the World Title against all challengers. If he succeeds at Holiday Hell, it will mark the one-year anniversary of his title win. He is facing one of his sweetest challengers, someone that will make York run for his dentist. That’s right Mr. Sweet tooth himself, Sugarmask will fight York and maybe put an end to his year-long reign. Let’s be frank: we know what Sugarmask can do. We know where he’s been. We just don’t know what he’s going to do against York. Honestly you don’t go around and wear the World Title belt for a year without being the best. I enjoy Sugarmask but if he’s not careful York will easily have the masked man of sugar melting under he lights.
Cobian vs Adam Flash. This is a huge match-up for MCW’s monster rookie; since Shamrock Cup we have seen this mysterious hulk come out and interfere in matches on behalf of Christian York. Cobian has been going through challengers like a plow through snow, but might come up to a boulder in the road. A boulder called Adam Flash…or is it more of a pebble? I guess we’ll find out next month.
All I know is that all these questions and more will be answered on December 27 th; looking at how much action happened in 2008, how much bigger can MCW get in 2009?….Just you wait MCW fans...just you wait!
