MCW Hotseat October 2006

MCW Superstar, Pat Brink (aka GENESIS)

HotSeat: Thanks for joining me in the HotSeat Pat Brink, also known as Genesis, and Congrats! on winning the tag team titles. Speaking of the titles, you and Bruiser won the gold in September, you had just returned from a 60 day suspension for attacking referee Chris Clow, tell us about that?

Pat Brink: Well at the Shamrock Cup during the Ultimate Jeopardy match, I had Julio pinned to win the heavyweight title. Chris wasn't paying attention to what was going on and somehow Adam Flash slipped in and used a loophole to win the match. Afterwards, I confronted Chris. I don't know what he was thinking, but he chose to get hostile and put his hands on me. I reacted. Tara who's made nothing but incompetent decisions as commissioner decided to suspend me.

HotSeat: I must admit, you & Bruiser work well as a team and together make one helluva powerful force, looks like you’re in for a long title reign?

Pat Brink: Well I don't see any team or combination of 2 singles wrestlers who should even stand a chance. So I would say a long title run is definitely in our future.

HotSeat: Tell us about your wrestling background? Is it true you started out at Michaels 8th Ave. collecting tickets for MCW a few years ago?

Pat Brink: I was a bonebreakers student. I busted my a$$ and put my time in. As a student I had to do everything from pass out flyers to setting the ring up to doing security at the shows. I even drove the ring truck for a few years. On show day I was the first one to start working and the last one to stop. I never had any free time of my own. And aside from that I put my time in at the school getting drilled by guys like Qeenan Creed, 2-Dope, Ronnie Zukko, and even Mark Schrader.. Nobody was going to be allowed into MCW from bonebreakers unless they earned it.

HotSeat: How much do you appreciate what you’ve got now as opposed to taking tickets?

Pat Brink: Words can't describe how appreciative I am, but more importantly the respect I have for it because of everything else I did. I do feel like I definitely earned it though. When MCW closed down in 03' I continued pushing. Because I had no more responsibilities here I began to put more time in the gym and went anywhere I could get booked to wrestle and did. A lot of times for no money just to get a match under my belt. I would also go to other schools and do camps with veterans to get as much insight and knowledge as I can.

HotSeat: You are a dedicated man Pat & have earned what you’ve worked so hard for in this sport, I can also tell you appreciate the gym and training, so tell us, what’s a typical day for Pat Brink like?

Pat Brink: I wake up in the morning eat breakfast and head for the gym. I work out for a couple of hours and head home. I try to watch at least 1-2 hours of old tapes. They don't have 24/7 where I live yet. Depending on what day of the week it is I either run errands or head to the EWA school to practice a little bit.  Then I take care of anything personal I have to take care of.

HotSeat: I always ask the fans if they have any questions for my upcoming HotSeat guest, in your case, one fan wanted to know if you’ll beg Dan to re-open Bonebreakers and let you become head trainer....just so he can dropkick you in your bad knee? Hmmmm…

Pat Brink: And I doubt whoever said that has ever taken a bump or has the ba!!$ to.

HotSeat: By the way, how’d you initially injure your knee and how is it now?

Pat Brink: I was training at bonebreakers. I went up for a leap frog and when I came down my knee bent in a direction it wasn't supposed to. I tore my ACL , meniscus and ripped a bunch of my cartilage up.

HotSeat: Who has been your toughest opponent in MCW so far?

Pat Brink: Team 3D

HotSeat: Being only a few short months away, what do you hope to achieve in 2007?

Pat Brink: For everyone who watches or is in wrestling to know who I am.

HotSeat: Any goals for the future, MCW Heavyweight Champion maybe?

Pat Brink: It's definitely in the back of my mind, but I want to see how far this thing with Bruiser can go. We haven't even scratched the surface yet.

HotSeat: The ladies want to know Pat… the tattoo on your chest, what if any does it symbolize?

Pat Brink: It's a Pitt Bull. As a teenager I had a few pitt bulls and this one was my favorite.

HotSeat: Of course they want to know if there are any non-visual tattoos they don’t know about? Or something the fans don’t know about you that you’ll share with them?

Pat Brink: There aren't any non-visual but I just got a new tattoo on my forearm and I have plans to get a few more. I'm actually about to cover the dog on my chest. So just stay tuned. There is one that I'm getting that will be in memory of my late best friend William "Redneck Billy Redwood" Crumpton.

HotSeat: That’s cool, Billy  was one great guy!  Monster Mash Oct 29th MCW Arena, any word on who your opponents will be?

Pat Brink: It doesn't matter who it is and I really don't care. The result will be the same.

HotSeat: Well Pat thanks for your time, good luck in defending your tag belt & join me again sometime. Anything you'd like to say to the fans before we jump in our cars and go our separate ways?

Pat Brink: It was my pleasure. To the fans, I'd say thanks for your support. I'm gonna keep working hard for myself and for you guys to be the best that I can.
