To all MCW Fans,
I would like to thank all of you for supporting MCW the last 2 years and although I have not been there from the beginning, I know many of you have supported MCW from the beginning and for that we thank all of you. I have not spoke or addressed any of the fans on the website since our return. But I believe that many changes that have occurred in the past 6 months and some of the changes that will happen in the next few months need to be explained. We really don’t want any speculation on why and what precipitated these changes.
First of all, The show at Fort Meade will not take place on June 7 th. Our first event back at Fort Meade will take place on Saturday October 4 th. There are a few reasons for this. The coordinator for Fort Meade MWR got a promotion in March and we had to wait an extended amount of time to get the date confirmed and a contract drawn up. We still have not received the contract although we got a verbal ok about 10 days ago. So, when we went to book talent for the show, we basically came up empty. With ROH in Philly and TNA having a PPV weekend, our talent pool was small. Every name we tried was either booked or had personal business to attend to. So we were left with the choice of doing a show with no star power in a building that is very large and has been accustomed to big names over the last 3 years or skipping this show and start to book talent now for the show in October. We chose the latter and are talking to TNA and other independent stars to appear on that show.
Secondly, I know many of you are not happy with the way things are updated. We sometimes don’t have updates on the website and the matches get announced later than usual. I will touch on this but really we try our best and sometimes that’s not good enough. Our web guy left us at the beginning of the year. Our video guy just left us this past month to pursue personal responsibilities although we expect him back in the future. We have persevered and are still plugging away. We sometime take longer than usual to announce matches because we have a team of 4 to 6 guys who book our shows and they have to make time to get together and put this all together. So if you don’t see an update, it might not be my fault or Dan’s fault. It might be that our new web guy can’t update for a week do to his job or personal reasons. Or maybe it’s because one or two of our booking team are tied up with other things and we are delayed for a few weeks. Either way, we are going to give you the best show possible. We had one of our best shows last month at the New Green Room. The atmosphere in that building was hotter than I’ve seen since Resurrection 2006, our first show back with 1200 fans. This show had 350 people who were louder than any crowd in a long long time. And it elevated the wrestlers to another level. If you think that you the fans don’t make a difference in the show, then you are wrong. The Wrestlers feed off of all of you and appreciate your support way more than we do.
Lastly, and there is some good news in all this. On Saturday, July 19 th will mark the 10 year anniversary of MCW. July 19 th 1998 was the first show ever held by MCW at the Patapsco Arena and it was a gigantic success. There have been some ups and downs but we have had a great run. So, On Friday July 18 th and Saturday July 19 th we are going to celebrate our anniversary at our new home, the New Green Room. Our Shamrock Cup will be spread over 2 days. The first day will feature our 5 qualifying matches and several other title and grudge matches. Day 2 will feature the final match to crown the 8 th Annual Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup Winner as well as several other featured matches and championship bouts. We are also planning a special meet and greet/ Q&A/luncheon for Saturday afternoon as well as a possible autograph signing before Saturdays show with some of the past MCW stars who have come through our locker room. Stay tune to Marylandwrestling.com for updates. The show on May 4 th will be our last show this year at the flea market. We are not completely retiring the flea market as a place we may have events, but right now we feel like the New Green Room is where we can have some exciting and successful shows. So if you weren’t coming out this show, try and make it out and say goodbye for now to the North Point Flea Market.
To all of you, Dan and I want to thank all of you, the fans, for supporting MCW and hope to see you next week. And if not, we invite you to celebrate our anniversary together on July 18 th and 19 th. Thank You All.
