“Creative control”. These words alone can send a shiver down the spine of wrestling fans. The term itself has a stigma to it that will never leave the sport of professional wrestling. That one lone term has probably done more damage to wrestling companies than any other scandal due to the very nature of what it represents.
Therefore, should it be of little surprise that Tom Brandi, notorious for being all about himself and nobody else, would create a faction named Creative Control. Brandi knows how to play “the game” as well as anyone and knows how to push buttons. When MCW Owner Corporal Punishment was dealing with real life issues, Brandi swooped in like a vulture, manipulating the situation for his means. By making the deal he made, Brandi was able to get a contract that would allow him to decide his own matches and his own stipulations in MCW. As wrestling fans are well aware, when a wrestler can dictate his own matches and terms, the good of the company is made secondary to the wrestler’s personal ego and wants.
April 21 st in Bel Air, Maryland will see more potential chaos from “Creative Control”. With MCW Champion Adam Flash, the Bruiser and Jimmy Cicero in the building, anything is possible. However, Tom Brandi allowed his ego to override common sense on March 26 th and struck a Maryland State Athletic Commission referee, earning him a 30 day suspension under Maryland’s strict laws. With Brandi and his creative control card removed from the April 21 st event, Corporal Punishment and the rest of the MCW Office should have big surprises for Creative Control. |
