MCW News Update 05/11/06
By Shawn Credle, MCW Commentator
It is our intention to start posting here on the message board at least once a week to address some of the issues brought up by the fans of MCW. Instead of answering a post every time that someone has a complaint or compliment we will address several issues every time that we post. We realize that some of the negative comments come from wrestlers that are upset with the fact that they are not booked on our shows and promoters that have run events in that particular building and were unable to come close to the success that we have achieved. However, we also realize the some comments are actually fans with legitimate concerns.
For starters we would like to once again thank all of the fans that continue to come out and support Maryland Championship Wrestling. We truly could not do what we do without your dedication to our company.
----BATISTA- This is an issue that has been a hot topic on the message board the last couple of days. Some fans were upset that Batista did not get into the ring during the show. That is the main reason that we advertised on the site that he would be there for Autographs and pictures only. Batista was told directly by Vince McMahon that he did not want him anywhere near the ring and did not want him getting involved in any kind of “Angle”. You have to understand something, the WWE has Millions of dollars invested into Batista and he is about to make a big comeback. The WWE is not going to take any chances on a freak accident happening on an independent wrestling show.
As far as Batista acting like he did not want to be there, please keep in mind that the WWE has had him on a busy schedule doing personal appearances. He had to fly out late Sunday night to LA to do some promo work and to be at the premier for Kane’s new movie. After he drove from Virginia (Where his hotel was) to Dundalk he found out that WWE travel had changed his travel so that he would be flying out of Baltimore instead of DC. He had to leave our event, drive back to Virginia to get all of his stuff out of the hotel and drive back to Baltimore and catch a 5-hour flight to LA. To say that he was exhausted would be an understatement.
We did not have a contract with Batista, simply a handshake agreement. It would have been very easy for him to say, “I don’t feel like going” and not come. He did however show up and that is a reflection of his professionalism. We would like to once again thank Batista and the WWE for allowing the appearance to happen.
---Danny Doring- According to his contract with WWE/ECW Danny will still be able to appear at MCW events as long as it does not conflict with ECW dates. As of right now they are working on getting a game plan together for a house show schedule and other projects for the company. Due to that fact, Danny cannot commit to any MCW appearances until he has a better idea of exactly what his schedule is going to be.
---Ticket Prices- This is an issue that has come up a couple of times here on the message board and a lot of the fans voice their opinion. The truth of the matter is that this is a business. Unless you really know exactly what MCW does, you have no idea what goes into making one of our events happen. We could charge $10 for tickets but we would be out of business in 2 shows tops. Then those same people would get on the message board and complain about not having quality wrestling shows to go to. We continue to bring in the top quality talents from all over the US and in the case people do not understand, that costs money. There are plenty of places that you can go to see $10 wrestling shows, if you chooses to attend those events you will get your money’s worth. Like wise we hope that you feel like you get your money’s worth when you attend MCW events.
---The Ghetto Mafia- For the one fan that asked about where the Ghetto Mafia was, they did not show up for the event this past Sunday. To be honest with you we cannot tell you exactly why they did not show up due to the fact that they have not made any effort to contact MCW management to explain why they did not show up. It has been rumored that they were not happy with their spot in MCW but as for now that is the best explanation that can be given.
---Woman’s Wrestling- For the fans that are asking about women’s wrestling in MCW. It is our intention to eventually bring a women’s title to Maryland Championship Wrestling. We are currently looking for women wrestlers to be able to put together a strong enough women’s division to make it a worthwhile venture. As most of you know both Lita and Mickie James were MCW regulars before they went on to the WWE. Currently in MCW Candie and Angela are the only 2 trained female wrestlers so hopefully In the next couple of months we will be able to bring you some top quality women’s wrestling.
---New Signing- In a topic related to the above subject, Maryland Championship Wrestling is happy to announce that we have come to terms with Independent Wrestling Star April Hunter. She will make her first appearance for MCW at the Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup on July 9th. What does April Hunter want in MCW? Stay tuned to MarylandWrestling.com to find out.
