 OFFICIAL MARYLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING PRESS RELEASE
On Sunday night, July 9th, 2006, Maryland Championship Wrestling presents The Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup VI at the MCW Arena in Dundalk, MD. This unique 11-man tournament will feature five first-round matches, where the winners will advance to the 6-man elimination finale. Traditionally, the defending Cup winner returns to the finale to defend the Cup. However, due to the retirement of the previous winner CHRISTIAN YORK, MCW announced that the winner of the Cruiserweight Championship 4-way (that took place this past February at RESURRECTION), would also go to the Shamrock Cup as the defender of the Cup. This year, that man, who has advanced to the 6-man finale, is DEREK FRAZIER. The unique tournament will feature the following wrestlers: Reigning MCW Cruiserweight Champion and former TNA X-Division Champion CHRIS SABIN Former ECW World Champion Former MCW Cruiserweight Champion & Shamrock Cup II Winner Former TNA X-Divison Champion & leader of Team Canada Former MCW Tag Team Champion & 1/2 of The Holy Rollers Top MCW & independent superstar Gulf South Wrestling star & Southern Tag Team Champion Current TNA superstar Current TNA superstar Former CZW Champion And the 1st first-round match announced for the Cup is RUCKUS vs. SONJAY DUTT. The self-proclaimed "Jake The Snake of getting baked, the Chris Cash of smokin' hash, and the Bruce Lee of Ooohh Wheeeee!" Ruckus has dominated Combat Zone Wrestling. During his tenure there, he has won the CZW Junior Heavyweight Championship, the CZW Tag Team Championship, and the CZW Heavyweight Championship twice. However, Ruckus has not won gold in MCW. Sonjay Dutt has also had his share of success in the wrestling world, not only in CZW, but other federations as well. Titles that he has won include: IWA: Mid South Light Heavyweight title, MLW Junior Heavyweight title, CZW Jr Heavyweight title, and the NWA Cyberspace Cruiser-X title. Other promotions he has worked for include Ring of Honor, and Zero-One in Japan. Dutt made his biggest impact, wrestling for TNA, where he has been since 2003, competing in the X-Divison and being a member of Team USA. Both men are tournament tested, as they have both won the CZW Best of the Best Tournament: Dutt in 2004, and Ruckus in 2006. Now, Ruckus, along with manager "Primo" Robby Mireno, returns to MCW to face one of his fiercest rivals, "The Original Playa from the Himalaya" Sonjay Dutt.
