MCW SHANE SHAMROCK MEMORIAL CUP VI UPDATE
NEW MATCHES ANNOUNCED

On Sunday night, July 9th, 2006, Maryland Championship Wrestling presents The Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup VI at the MCW Arena in Dundalk, MD.
This unique 11-man tournament will feature five first-round matches, where the winners will advance to the 6-man elimination finale. Traditionally, the defending Cup winner returns to the finale to defend the Cup. However, due to the retirement of the previous winner CHRISTIAN YORK, MCW announced that the winner of the Cruiserweight Championship 4-way (that took place this past February at RESURRECTION), would also go to the Shamrock Cup as the defender of the Cup. This year, that man, who has advanced to the 6-man finale, is DEREK FRAZIER.
The tournament will feature these 10 wrestlers competing for the five open spots in the finale:

Last week, MCW announced the 1st first-round match for the Cup, RUCKUS vs. SONJAY DUTT.
Now, the 2nd first-round match for this year Shamrock Cup will be PETEY WILLIAMS vs. JOSH DANIELS.
"The Canadian Destroyer" and leader of TEAM CANADA makes his first appearance in Maryland Championship Wrestling on Sunday, July 9th in Baltimore, MD. Williams, a native of Windsor, Ontario, trained alongside current MCW Cruiserweight Champion CHRIS SABIN under Scott D'Amore at the Can-Am Wrestling School. Shortly after making his debut in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Williams won the TNA X-Division Championship on August 11, 2004, in a 22-man Gauntlet For the Gold (pinning former MCW Cruiserweight Champion The Amazing Red in the finals). Williams had one of the longest X-Division title reigns (over 5 months).
During an interview on The Below The Belt Show last Wednesday night (which can be heard on www.belowthebeltshow.com), Scott D'Amore proclaimed that Petey Williams will not only win his first round match, but will win the Shamrock Cup, and place the Shamrock Cup Trophy next to the ECWA Super 8 Trophy that Williams won last year.
To advance to the finale, Williams must defeat one of the best independent wrestlers today, JOSH DANIELS. A 6-year pro from Syracuse, NY, Daniels has impressed MCW fans with his incredible matches. Josh has remained a top contender for the MCW Heavyweight Championship, having wrestled for the Championship twice, including advancing to the semifinals of the MCW Championship Tournament, and suffering a controversial loss to reigning champion Julio Dinero this past April. Daniels sites The Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart, & Chris Benoit as his primary influences. And he hopes that he has the right game plan to defeat Petey Williams, and advance to the Shamrock VI Finale.
