Second Shamrock Cup Qualifying Match – Independent & MCW Star JOSH DANIELS will take on the leader of TNA Wrestling Team Canada “CANDIAN DESTROYER” PETEY WILLIAMS.
"The Canadian Destroyer" and leader of TEAM CANADA makes his first appearance in Maryland Championship Wrestling on Sunday, July 9th in Baltimore , MD. Williams, a native of Windsor , Ontario , trained alongside current MCW Cruiserweight Champion CHRIS SABIN under Scott D'Amore at the Can-Am Wrestling School . Shortly after making his debut in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, Williams won the TNA X-Division Championship on August 11, 2004 , in a 22-man Gauntlet For the Gold (pinning former MCW Cruiserweight Champion The Amazing Red in the finals). Williams had one of the longest X-Division title reigns (over 5 months).
During an interview on The Below The Belt Show last Wednesday night (which can be heard on www.belowthebeltshow.com), Scott D'Amore proclaimed that Petey Williams will not only win his first round match, but will win the Shamrock Cup, and place the Shamrock Cup Trophy next to the ECWA Super 8 Trophy that Williams won last year.
To advance to the finale, Williams must defeat one of the best independent wrestlers today, JOSH DANIELS. A 6-year pro from Syracuse , NY , Daniels has impressed MCW fans with his incredible matches. Josh has remained a top contender for the MCW Heavyweight Championship, having wrestled for the Championship twice, including advancing to the semifinals of the MCW Championship Tournament, and suffering a controversial loss to reigning champion Julio Dinero this past April. Daniels sites The Dynamite Kid, Bret Hart, & Chris Benoit as his primary influences. And he hopes that he has the right game plan to defeat Petey Williams, and advance to the Shamrock VI Finale.
This match is just the 2nd of five qualifying matches announced.
Candie – congratulations to MCW’s Candie as she won her very first championship on
May 24, 2006 in
Delaware by defeating Kylie Pierce for the vacant DWOW Women’s Championship. Will she defend the title in MCW??
Past Event Links – we are currently updating the website and working on getting all the old galleries restored. 95% of them are up a ready for viewing. All we need assistance from the fans if you have results from our old events. A lot of this information was lost when MCW Version One closed in July 2003. If you have any of our old results, please email them to mcwwrestling@gmail.com and make the subject the date and location of the event.
Ghetto Mafia – as of right now the Ghetto Mafia will not be appearing on out upcoming events. It doesn’t mean that they will not be back somewhere down the line, but as far as the Shamrock Cup and the Fort Meade event, they will not be appearing in a wrestling capacity.
July Fort Meade Date – as mentioned in the subject above MCW will be returning to Pavilion @ Fort Meade on Saturday, July 22, 2006. The reason for the date change is because there were scheduling conflicts with several pieces of talent who are being contracted to appear. We will have an update within the next two in regards to who is appearing and when tickets go on sale.
