Holiday Hell 2008
The New Green Room
Dundalk , MD
On December 27th, newly crowned MCW Cruiserweight Champion Sabian will face off against one of the best pure athletes on the independent scene, Tim Donst.
Sabian is no stranger to MCW Fans or MCW Gold. He is a former MCW Tag Team Champion as part of BLKOUT with Ruckus. Sabian has also held tag and singles gold as well as winning cruiserweight tournaments across the country.
Many fans say Sabian was just the right guy in the right place at the right time on November 1st. Josh Daniels, MCW Cruiserweight Champion at that time, was set to defend against Derek Frazier. Daniels forfeited the title, stating he would rather relinquish the title instead of defending against a piece of Dundalk scum like Frazier. Daniels later that night won a hard hitting 'strong style' match against an unfortunate rookie. Commissioner Kelly Bell promised the MCW fans a cruiserweight title match and thats what he delivered. He held the belt up and announced that Derek Frazier would face off against Sabian. Sabian was in the building that night lending support to Ruckus in his partners quest for the MCW Heavyweight title. Commission Bell asked Sabian if he had his wrestling gear, and Sabian quickly answered Yes and accepted the match on the spot.
After several minutes of back and forth action, Frazier appeared ready to defeat Sabian and win the Cruiserweight title when Josh Daniels appeared at ringside and interfered while the referees back was turned, allowing Sabian to win the title. Sabian immediately made it known that he had nothing to do with Daniels and Fraziers beef, he was just proud to be champion and wanted to show what a fighting champion he would be by offering to face anyone MCW puts in front of him on 12/27.
MCW has always been a proving ground for top cruiserweights. Whether it was Joey Matthews, The Amazing Red, Ruckus and now Derek Frazier, MCW has been a place where top cruiserweights are given a chance to shine. At Holiday Hell, MCW is going to shine that light on Tim Donst. Donst is not your typical high flying cruiserweight, but what he lacks in aerial maneuvers, he more than makes up with mat based wrestling. As a former amateur wrestler with East Stroudsburg University, he also excelled in football and track.
Donst had a brief moment in MCW at our May 2008 event when he and Drew Gulak defeated The Headliners in 2 minutes with a double tapout finish. Although "Team Stranglehold" looked like they had a bright future in MCW, Donst & Gulak both had weekends booked wrestling throughout the US and even on occassional tours of Canada and Germany, and MCW matchmakers were not able to bring them back until now. Donst admits he is still fairly new in this sport, finishing 3rd in last years Wrestling Observer Rookie of the Year Awards, but he feels that his amateur background and pro training at the Chikara Wrestling Factory will help him not only impress MCW fans but also secure a win at Holiday Hell.
December 27th will see the high flying aerial champion Sabian go against the younger, ground based mat wrestler Donst. Two great cruiserweight athletes will walk into the ring, but only one will leave as the MCW Cruiserweight Champion.
